日本語の先生を始めてもうすぐ3年ですが、やっと今日からポッドキャストを始めていきます。
今、日本語を勉強している人や、昔勉強していて、もう一度日本語の勉強を始めたい人が、リスニングの練習ができればいいなと思っています。

It’s been 3 years since I started this job as a Japanese teacher, but finally I’m starting this podcast.

はじめてなので、自己紹介をしたいと思います。
私は、エミです。2022年から日本語の先生をしています。
日本の南にある「沖縄県」というところで生まれました。
大学までは、沖縄に住んでいました。
その後大阪で仕事をしたり、また沖縄に戻ったりしましたが、今は結婚して神奈川に住んでいます。
神奈川で、夫とハリネズミのもっちゃんと一緒に住んでいます。

It is a very first episode of my podcast today.
Since this is my first time, I’ll give you my self-introduction.
I am Emi. I’ve started this job since 2022.
And I was born in Okinawa-ken which is located in the southern part of Japan.
I had lived in Okinawa until I graduated university there.
After that, I worked in Osaka, returned to Okinawa, and now I live in Kanagawa after getting married.
I live with my husband and Mocchan the hedgehog in Kanagawa.
趣味は、色んなところに旅行に行くことと、ミュージカルを見ることです。
最近は、9月に大阪でウィキッドのミュージカルを見ました。
あと先月は、東京でライオンキングを見ました。
とっても面白かったです。みなさんも、ぜひ日本でミュージカルを見てみてください。
私は、6年前くらいにブロードウェイでキャッツをみたことがあります。
でもその時、ちょっと疲れていて寝てしまいました…。
次は、寝ないでブロードウェイを楽しみたいです。
はい。名前と、出身と家族と趣味の話をしましたね。
これが私の自己紹介です。

My hobbies are going to travel various places and seeing musicals.
Recently, I saw a musical, Wicked in Osaka in September.
Last month, I also saw Lion King.
It was very entertaining. I highly recommend you see musicals in Japan.
About 6 years ago, I have seen a musical Cats.
However, I was a little tired and fell asleep (during the show).
Next time, I want to have fun without falling asleep.
Yes, I just talked about my name, hometown, family and hobbies.
This is my self-introduction.

私が、どうして日本語の先生をしているかを話します。
私は18歳の時に、アメリカのデラウェア州というところに留学に行きました。
10ヶ月という短い時間でした。ですが、色々な新しい文化を学びながら英語を勉強することができました。
そして、留学先の高校で日本語の授業を受けていました。
でも、私は日本人で、授業は簡単だったので、先生のアシスタントをしていました。
学生たちの書いた漢字や、作文のチェックをしていました。
そのときに、日本語を教えることがおもしろそうだなと思いました。
なので、留学から帰ってから、大学で日本語の教え方を勉強しました。

Let me talk about one more thing.
I’ll talk about how I got interested in teaching Japanese.
When I was 18 years old, I’ve been to Delaware state in the United States.
It was a 10 months stay which is short. But I got to learn various new cultures and study English.
I took Japanese class at high school where I stayed.
But I am (native) Japanese and the class was easy, so I was an assistant of a teacher.
I checked student’s Kanji, and their essays in Japanese.
These things made me feel interested in teaching Japanese.
Therefore, I studied how to teach Japanese at university after coming back from the states.
今、私は英語を話すことができますが、18歳の時は全然話せませんでした。
でも、アメリカの学校で勉強したり、たくさん英語で話したりして、少しずつ話せるようになりました。
新しい言語を勉強するのは難しいですよね。
私もその気持ちが分かります。
だから一緒にがんばっていきましょう！
English Translation
Now, I can speak English, but I wasn’t really able to when I was 18.
However, studying at school in the states and talking a lot in English improved my English skill.
I know learning new languages is hard.
I feel the same way.
So let’s work hard together!
