七夕の物語｜Story of Tanabata
むかしむかし、空の上に「織姫」という女と、「彦星」という男がいました。
織姫は、とても働き者で 毎日機織りをがんばっていました。
織姫のお父さんは、がんばっている織姫に、素敵なお婿さんを迎えようとします。
お父さんは、牛の世話をしている しっかり者の「彦星」を見つけました。
そして、織姫と彦星は結婚しました。
しかし、２人は毎日遊んで、全然仕事をしなくなりました。
怒ったお父さんは、天の川という大きな川を作って、２人を離しました。
それから２人は毎日泣いて、悲しみました。
お父さんは、「今まで通り、真面目に働くか？そうすれば、１年に１回会ってもいいだろう。」と約束しました。
２人は、一生懸命 働くようになりました。
そして、７月７日の夜だけ、織姫と彦星は会うことができます。
それから、２人は ７月７日の七夕の日のために、毎日頑張って仕事をしながら過ごしました。

Once upon a time, a woman called Orihime and a man called Hikoboshi lived above the sky.
Orihime was such a hard worker and weaved cloth every day.
Orihime’s father wanted to introduce a suitable husband (his future son-in-law) to Orihime.
He found a dependable person, Hikoboshi, who took good care of his cow.
Orihime and Hikoboshi got married.
However, they went out together every day and ended up not working.
Orihime’s father got mad and separated them by making a giant river called Amano-gawa (the Milky Way.)
The couple cried and felt sad every day.
The father asked, “Will you two work hard seriously? If so, you can meet once a year.”
Orihime and Hikoboshi started working very hard again.
And because of their hard work, every year they get to see each other only during the night of July 7th.

短冊に願い事を書きましょう！｜Write Your Wish on a Strip of Paper
日本では、七夕の日に 短冊（Strip of Paper）に願い事を書きます。
そして、その短冊を 笹竹（small bamboo）につるします。
そうすると、願い事が天に届くと言われています。

In Japan, we write wishes on Tanzaku (Strip of Paper) on Tanabata Day.
And we hang it on a small bamboo tree.
This way, your wish will reach the sky (heaven.)
